Hippoidean crustaceans are members of the infauna of sandy beaches, which inhabit mainly in
the sweep zone, although some species can inhabit more than 100 m depth. They are grouped into three families, of
which only two have representatives in the Caribbean Sea. An inventory of the species present in Venezuelan marine
waters has been carried out based on material deposited in the GICUDONE crustacean reference collection. A total
of 54 organisms were analyzed, determining the presence of seven species, Albunea catherinae is a new addition to
the anomuran carcinofauna of the country. Illustrated keys are provided for the determination of the species present
in Venezuela.
