Ulva reticulata Forsskål 1775, is a specie from Indo-Pacific that arrived to our seas
in the 80 decade. The Venezuelan coasts were progressively invaded by this macroalgae, where frequently
forms green tides in polluted areas, with a variant named Ulva reticulata f. delicatula Gilbert. This note
reviews the literature that cite the presence of this macroalgae, the taxonomic status of this entity requires
further investigation, and for this reason this taxon must be investigated with genetic markers to confirm
its morphological variation.
